October 21, 1968 (practicing!)

Greetings, Oh Loving Sender of Beads,

How's by you? Whatchya been doin'? Ya been eatin' good chow? (practicing some more!)

Actually I've been trying to correct my NY slurring of words and I'm sure I'll be successful. Whatchya think?

The love beads are the most beautiful I've seen and I haven't any others like them. (Glad you didn't send ipel seeds -- I have those.) Thank you for the beads. Thank you for your love.

Who the hell is Debbie Drake?

My cyst has disappeared. My gray hair is at a rate of three strands/week. My eyes are:
O.D. correctable to 20/30
O.S. correctable to 20/30

However, the two myopic eyeballs working as a team can be corrected to 20/20. The AF will not issue contacts and I haven't received the glasses as yet & Dr. Newman doesn't sound too encouraging & says I look better in contacts anyway. Anything is better than that half-blind state.

Jer, do you really think I would take your "tonic-quinine supplement" joke seriously. For shame. Snicker, chuckle.

I miss you, Jerry.

No, we reform Catholics don't share your and Paul's outdated view of Catholicism. However, I do sound like a mock-Jerry when I argue "moot points" with Fr. Shields (new Catholic chaplain). I'm afraid he wouldn't last long in O'Boyle's diocese but this doesn't seem to deter him. So there, Smarty!

Jack's* latest is to join the Peace Corps. I don't think it's a bad idea but he'll probably change his mind before I can offer my unsolicited advice.

Well, I have to bug personnel for my discharge orders -- should start clearing next week & be home between 1-4 Nov unless I take a weekend vacation with Ann 8-11 Nov.

Ann doesn't have orders yet but she knows she'll be in Hickem awhile. So she'll probably be flying air-evac from Clark or some place in Japan. But she'll be here to march in the parade 16 Nov. HA!

I love you but hate the AF,
the almost-civilian
