September 11, 1968

Dear Jerry,

At last, a chance to catch my breath. I feel as if I've accomplished nothing today except check with the educational office about the G.I. Bill. I will be eligible for $130/mo. full time; $95 3/4; $60 1/2 for a total of 24 mo. within a 8-year period from D.O.S.

Most of the positions that interest me require at least a B.S. so I may as well get started. I've written for info & interviews with Palo Alto-Stanford Hosp (1st choice), Kaiser in Calif, Roosevelt and Rusk in N.Y., and Mass General. I hope to get some response the end of next week.

I mailed your will, silver dollars, and tie tack to your home by registered mail, and I'll mail your clothes this week -- the records when I feel up to it. They're a pain to pack!

Your thesis case has to be mailed unlocked. Do you want the key inside the case or in a separate letter?

I'll have to start making carbon copies of my letters so I don't become repetitious.

Yesterday I visited the hair house and had my hair trimmed as short as it was last May. It isn't really attractive but I love it so that I think I'll have my photo taken this way rather than with curls, OK? The gray is coming in (or growing out) but some of the red is still left.

Hat size? Have you ever seen a hat (or scarf or hairband) on my head other than military? It's about 21". 34-26-37 (size 12 if the skirt isn't straight - then 14). Long extremities, heavy thighs, long neck, 10 AAAA shoe. As my mother would say, a cross between Ichabod Crane & Olive Oil!

Forget the previous question about the key. It will be in an envelope inside the lid of the case. I'll mail the case ASAP.

I'm very glad that you love me Jerry. I love you as much as I can love anybody and only wish you could hold me in your arms now until I fall asleep.

Love,
Barbara
