September 29 and 30, October 1-3, 1968

Dear Jerry,

At last, a little something to write about.

Sheila, Mickie, & I saw Sergio Mendes and Brazil 66 with Jose Feliciano at Caesar's Palace last night. I went compliments of Sheila!

No, she has no guilt feelings over that Foxy-Sands deal. It all started this way:

One afternoon Sheila came over, asked me if I'd sell my Class A Blues to her, & how much. Keep in mind that it fits her perfectly except for the hem.

Sheila: How much?
Barbara: fifty dollars
Sheila: OK

Next day, same place

Sheila: Fifty dollars is too much. What are you trying to do, screw your friends?
Barbara: Well, you agreed.
Sheila: It's too much.
Barbara: Alright, how about taking me to a dinner show?
Sheila: Fine ... can you show me how to hem this skirt?

Anyway, I managed to eat & drink approximately $16 worth. I was pushing for $20 which, of course, may have been made up in the tip, but knowing Sheila I doubt it.

I'm enclosing an article which appeared in the 4 Oct. issue of Time about Brookhaven National Lab* & Dr. Cotzias, the temperamental Greek doctor who told me in July that I should come back because they are on to "sometheengh beegh!"

Love,
Barbara

*Brookhaven, N.Y., is the town my mother grew up in.
